How I Work….

The body [is] a resonating chamber

Sound comes first from the movement of particles vibrating with each other …

I am but a small part of something much bigger

As a composer I am drawn to the scientific nature of vibrations, the chemical and biological music of my animal makeup …

Sound is fundamental to survival for every species, our brains are wired to immediately shift in response to sound.

The importance of listening, that within the silence (what is already here) there is creativity, there is movement ,there is sound ….if we are willing to experience it.

I compose with my entire being - all 5 senses working towards embodied composition -  a form of synesthesia, experiencing the creative process through the senses before the physical realisation of a ‘piece’

I see colours, shapes, textures, tastes, even the movement of the subject/idea often before the sound reveals itself.

I seek to create living interactions, not commenting on but real-time conversations between and through the creative mediums, Constantly questioning who is the performer? who is the audience? are we not all at the some point both?

I combine many compositional techniques, art forms and media verging on the Avant garde in order to break down the boundaries between audience and performer.

I draw on the power of nature, the elements and the necessity for decay/destruction in order to allow growth -  to get out of my own way, to be  open to explore a deeper freedom, to cross thresholds into liminal spaces of; creativity, transformation and hope

Behind all creation is silence.

The very ground of your being, out of which came all your thoughts is silence.

Then when you arrive in your own silence, you will know  true freedom and real power

Through my work I am constantly searching, exploring, questioning the idea of Self in its many guises… working through historical ‘teachings’, to learn what is of use and what needs to be let go.

It is through my creativity that I reveal myself.
